The Federal Hwy Administration approved a roughly $4 mill. repair plan for a portion of Valencia Road closed since it collapsed on a failed culvert in Jan according to Santa Cruz County.

The road’s collapse forced the closure of Valencia Elementary School after crews blocked the road Jan. 23.

The failed culvert and closure impacted thousands of motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, county spokesman Jason Hoppin said.

The storms of 2017 generated $70 mill. in road damage at 170 different sites, Hoppin said.
