Looking at the year ahead, Santa Clara County Supervisor Mike Wasserman took a brief step back to 2016 to praise voters for approving a program that will ease homelessness.

Wasserman, whose district includes Los Gatos and Monte Sereno, spoke Jan. nine to the Los Gatos chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Measure A gives the county an estimated $950 mill. to spend on the problem. About $250 mill. is expected to be used for housing for low- and moderate-income residents, while $700 mill. will be earmarked for housing for extremely low-income people, the homeless and those on the verge of becoming homeless.
